If you want to break them in more quickly, and quietly, this is what I was told by Dynaudio: play at low to medium volume with FM radio or a CD on repeat, then place the speakers face to face, no more than an inch or two apart. Reverse the polarity of one speaker cable to greatly reduce the volume, and then cover with some blankets, quilts or towels to even further reduce the volume and let them play 24/7.

It took my Sapphires about three weeks, but they don't have any of the high end sibilance or exaggeration that John Atkinson wrote about in Stereophile or that other owners have mentioned. I think that exaggerated treble is one of the signs of a Dyn that hasn't completely broken in yet.

Sweet.

I was planning on getting a pair of C1s to replace my Contour S1.4s, but instead I just picked up a pair of Contour S3.4s.

I might upgrade them later with the Esotar2 tweeters (the same as the ones in the C1s).

Dean...would a change out of the tweeters necessitate a change in the crossover to take into account the change in driver? Just curious.

No. I asked Dynaudio. They have done this, and it is a straight swap. But it's not cheap (~$1800).

Do you have sand in the Stand4 legs. Don't you just love how the stand integrates with the speaker and the cable routing that makes it virtually invisible? Beautiful speakers.

All very interesting stuff. Dynaudio certainly intrigues me...particularly the C1 MkII. Definitely among my short list.

I did that with my Contour S1.4s and Stand4. The sand really helps improve detail and presentation.
