WOW!!! No wonder the CA200 is such a great deal. I think Stephen is really happy about it and that is good enough for me.

What tells me about how good the CA200 must be is that Val liked it so much; women have better hearing than men, and if they like the way something sounds, they are almost always right.

Stephen, see my post to your other thread; if you specifically want a C-J phono stage, the Premier 15 if you can find one, or the TEA2 would be excellent choices. C-J makes outstanding phono stages.

Jérôme,
No references other than life experiences.

By way of an example, I was at one of my local high-end stores yesterday, Stereo Unlimited, and we were listening to Swing's the Thing on Garrard 301 with the custom laminated plinth, the red Viva tube integrated amp, and the smaller Avant-Garde speakers. Dave, the owner was sitting on the couch, enjoying the music when Liz, his wife came in and said, "The woofers aren't connected!" Dave sheepishly got up and connected them and gave me a wry look.

Liz then dug out the 6922s she thought I would like, handed 'em to me, and said, "Take them home, give them a listen, and call me and let me know what you think." Liz the Queen of Tubes!

BTW, Liz is a former professional classical musician, she used to play the viola in Bay Area orchestras. She's got great ears...

I would get the top of the line CJ phono to match it. System synergy. But my Herron VTPH-2 has yet to be beat by any competitor in my system. It sounds great with my CJ 350 amp. Wide open, great timing and transparent.

Sorry Stephen : case reports not accepted !
Nice story though. Of course this lady has good ears but my opinion is that her husband is pretty bad : he sells those speakers and did not realize that the woofers were not connected ??? He either became deaf or that is a severe burn out syndrome !

I'm not saying that women do not have great ears. Actually most of them listen more to the music than to the sounds by themselves. That is why they catch often things that we missed. We are focusing on this particular tree in the forest, and they see the whole forest. They have a different approach when they listen to music.

What I meant is that I have not seen any proof of women in general hearing better than men. But, with age, it seems to me that their hearing loss is less pronounced. David could tell us more about that.
