I can only concur with the comments made so far regarding Transparent cables.

As you progress up the model range you certainly do get a significant increase in performance, however my view is that ratio diminishes once you hit the Reference level (not XL).

My system uses full Transparent - from the PIMM2 power isolator, PowerLink power cables through to Reference balanced interconnects and speaker cables (all MM2, with the exception of the PowerLinks being MM2X). The synergy really adds a significant amount.

One point which hasn't been made so far is the excellent customer service Transparent offers. I recently sent my cables back to be re-calibrated for my new equipment and they constantly provided feedback. Very impressive indeed.

Also note that Transparent offers an excellent trade up program so you always have that upgrade path for the future.

Marc.
Hello Marc,

Thanks for your input. I read it in the Wilson forum.

Until I tried the Momentum's in my system my short list of amps I considered to replace my 1.2k's included PASS, MLB and Accuphase. I can understand why you would be happy with 160.5's. My room will just not handle Class A amps.

Just a quick update on how the Momentum's are breaking in. It looks like any hash or lack of detail in the highs has disappeared. For the first month or so some discs (Sugarland's Incredible Machine for example) were hard to listen to. I played that disc again this afternoon and voilà the lack of detail or harshness in the upper frequencies is gone. From bottom to top these are incredible performers.

Jim and/or Serge

Do you guys leave the Momentum's on 24/7? Or is warm up reasonably quick and painless?

And, still loving them 12 months later?

Cheers

It's funny you mention that CD Jim. That's one I use as well. It's a very good gauge for how a new piece of equipment is rounding and smoothing out the highs. I've had some brand new gear where that CD was unlistenable as well. Over time, it smoothed out. It's also an excellent CD for speaker alignment/centering vocals IMO.

+1. These Pass amps are unreal. They are so smooth, but fast and detailed. Bass has never sounded better either.

I am glad I re-read this... I put on a CD last night that was to harsh to listen too.

Can you compare how the Momentum and ARC REF 250's differ? Strengths? Weaknesses of each? Do you have the stereo Momentum of Monos?

Thanks!
Mike
