In some cases if the room the speakers are placed may have a sympathetic wall or pane of glass or an opening that vibrates. If thats the case you could have an infinite amount of power and you still would not have the quality and quantity of bass your after. Could be your choice of speaker and listening locations also.

It looks like McIntosh is offering two new products, the MC1502 tube amplifier (150 x 2) and a reworked version of the C22 preamp.

That MC1502 is a beast - the last photo on its info page shows it compared to the MC275, which is heavy enough.
