Default Guarneri Mementos en route

I am in a state of delirium: last night, I bought a mint-condition pair of Mementos. They will replace the Liutos. I can't even begin to explain how excited I am.

AA member Toga brokered the deal for me and will deliver them on Sunday. A week ago, I only mentioned that I was curious if he (Toga) heard of any second-hand Guarneri Homage or Mementos for sale in the red-stained finish. I was floored when he said that his friend just a few streets away from me had a pair for sale. If I didn't know before, I know now: Don't underestimate Toga's audio ability in any way shape or form. Toga is a friend. I am so damn lucky to have been introduced to him by a fellow AA member.

THANK YOU TOGA!

Of course, I wrote that I wasn't ready to buy them yet, I have to get a proper audio rack first, blah, blah, blah. Well, those little devil of speakers would not leave me in peace. I thought twice after I turned them down that I should ask my banker, otherwise known as my wife, if we could get them. Honestly, I was afraid, though, a little. She had just okayed the purchase of Toga's Transparent Powerisolator Reference a few days ago. Now, BAM, I'm gonna' hit her with a much more expensive proposition.

Well, thankfully, my wife supports my decision. I began my talk with the words, "dear, I'd like to give your sister our speakers..." She was confused, and she didn't really understand why I wanted new speakers, but she supported my decision. Thank you Sweeti!

I was a little nervous about driving them with the MC275, but they do fall within the rated power requirements and we rarely listen at high volumes.

As soon as pictures become available, I will post them.

Ron.......You will be thrilled with the sound and performance of the Guarneri Mementos. I loved mine. I drove them with a single MC275, then two MC275's in mono. Both configurations were wonderful. You have every reason in the world to be happy. The Guarneri Memento's are fabulous. Congratulation to you and your lovely wife. That was a great decision you shared. I'll be watching for the photos and comments.

Toga
Toga, yes, I believe they would, but I fear my wife would whip me out into mid row as well.

Dan, thank you. In some ways, I am following in your footsteps with my purchases. I think you have probably generated enough McIntosh business through the influence of your audio choices, and especially, your very great writings and reviews to be inducted into the official company McIntosh Hall of Fame.

Bavarian05, I feel like I'm running out of a bank with a stash of loot that doesn't really belong to me. I think I'm going to listen with the curtains drawn.

Toga, are you bringing your mini, not the Cayenne? Do they fit in a Mini? OMG, my wife will be giddy to see you arrive in the Mini. Man, you sure know how to get her to lower her defenses about my buying new speakers. I think she will think to herself that anything delivered in a Mini can't be all that bad. Oh, she won't care at all about the speakers when she sees your car. Smart! In any case, when she sees how beautiful they are, and hears how glorious they sound, she's gonna' forget all her troubles.

Oh, I wish we could leave the parents early, but mom would be so sad if we did. Okay, be patient.

Congratulations Ron, this is quite an upgrade from the Liuto and you won't regret it at all.

These are among the best bookshelf speakers and compete with a lot of floor standers. Your wife will drop dead at how gorgeous they are in the red violin finish and you will from the musicality. They will fill your house with music.

You're lucky to have Toga as a neighbour.

Thank you Georges. I would have bought those when I got my Mac but the price was too high new. Used in perfect condition, though, that I must buy even if I cannot afford it. I guess this is what makes me one among many audio-crazed fanatics.

How am I going to sleep tonight? Toga wanted to set the up tonight. I do too but we only just got back from our parents a little after 8pm. Tomorrow at 10:30am Toga is coming. Don't doubt that he is fast, lightning fast.

Yes, I am in a state of shock that I could meet such an incredible person--and he lives across the street. I can see the condos next to his house from my window.
