The stub shaft on the back for the counter weight is broke completely off and the headshell is broke off.

I sure can relate to that!

Seriously man, that's horrible and heartbreaking. At least it's repairable/replaceable and no one was hurt. The preceding is the phrase that's supposed to make it all right, but we know it doesn't.

If your bass trap is that close to the turntable, I would try to find a way to have a safety strap or unobtrusive rope attached to the wall or ceiling as an anchor.

I was mounting the bass trap, but not finished when it fell. It’s secured now!!!!
