I hope it gets better when I get closer to the coast!

Jim - sounds like time to make your moves block-by-block (tapas bar-by-tapas bar). My favorite t-shirt is the one I got in Seville. Weather was great in January.

Yep. Sangria from 3 locations yesterday plus a pitcher at the 4th. It was only up to 98 this morning in Córdoba. Let's see what it gets to this afternoon again in Seville.

Hopefully, it will cool off enough that you can enjoy a visit to the Plaza de Espana. We took a horse drawn carriage tour along both sides of the river and was most enjoyable (again, was 70F and not 110F). As we walked along the sidewalk on the side of Calle Torneo where the buildings are located it was great to see art-work of the large, carved wooden double-doors and the tile-work on the walls just inside same. Hope you get some cooler weather.

Last night we took a long carriage ride with one of the stops the Plaza de Espana. What an amazing building and plaza to see at night. It was too hot to walk much in Seville last evening after returning from Córdoba where it hit 44C. This morning we are heading for Gibraltar before spending a couple of days on the Costa. De Sol. I have always wanted to see Toramolinos since reading Mitchner's book The Drifters in the 70's.

We had a great meal on the beach in Marbella on the Costa del Sol (where we stayed in 'old town' or "ciudad vieja" - no vehicles allowed) at the restaurant "Ola" (Reds, which is next door, and also has a good rep, was closed). The weather was unusually pleasant (75F). They set up a table and umbrella on the beach for us. Grilled squid and fish freshly cooked about 20' away and brought to the table directly from the fire. Must have had five waiters taking care of us. Great food and service. Our 2-weeks in Spain was one of the most "fun" trips we've taken. Can't say enough about how friendly the people of Spain are and the terrific food. Am sure being with my wife, the polyglot, helped.

Although our meal last evening was far less intimate than yours we did enjoy multiple courses of fish and other seafoods cooked to perfection. After the four of us (okay mainly me) finished off a couple of bottles of chilled white wine the walk back to our hotel via the beautiful promenade here in Torremolinos at night was perfect.

Sounds great. Malaga has a nice little Picasso museum if you get there.

Jim, sounds like a very nice but hot journey.
I guess you'll be cooked to perfection also?

It's been quite some time since I was in that area, but the cooler daytime temps in the 80's and 70's at night with the ocean winds should be a welcomed plus after those triple digits you've experienced elsewhere on your trip. Any plans to relax on & take a cool dip at any of the beaches?.....which I recall isn't California bone chilling. Beautiful sunsets of all the med IMO and if you want to go one step beyond; take a dusk cruise along the coastline.

Enjoy Jim.

Best sir,

Bob
