Default Best phonostage for C-3850

Best phonostage for Accuphase C-3850 and A-70 other than C-37? I have a Simaudio 810lp which is certainly a good phonostage, but not doing it for me since I switched to Accuphase. I used to enjoy vinyl so much more than digital prior to purchasing Accuphase gear. Since I have purchased Accuphase, digital surpassed my listening pleasures for vinyl.

Why am I not considering C-37? I'm looking for a phonostage with balance inputs since I use balance out. Could return to unbalance outputs, but hate needing to purchase yet another cable. Funny huh? I'll purchase an expensive phonostage, but don't want to change my expensive cable.

Anyway, anyone got experience using a phonostage working well with Accuphase gear minus the C-37? Tube or SS?

I don't know for sure, but am leaning tube with the same decision. Zesto is getting lots of good press.

Yeah I was leaning toward tube myself since I already have SS. I have heard Zesto. No complaints, but was not in my system. Since I am here in Japan I was looking at phasemation. http://phasemation.com/product/ea-500.html

Default Balanced output

@Harris4crna,

I had a discussion with my Linn dealer about XLR or not to be used on phono. He's a real phono freak and refuses everything which might influence the phono signal in a negative way.

He told me (I didn't verify it) that on XLR input- and output stages additional electrical circuits are required. They are not used on cinch in- and outputs.

This is why he urgently suggests to use cinch connections. I think, this also the reason why Accuphase doesn't use XLR on Phono-In on the C-37.

I have heard this before also, but I have been assured by VPI this is not the case with there junction box. I used to have a rca junction box previously and really did not notice either way. I have no problem switching back, but I'll need to purchase a new cable. I may try to sell my current cable and see. Honestly I would like to try the C-37 and see.

The signal coming out of a phono cartridge is asymmetrical (4 pins for left and right channels + and -).

IHMO, there is absolutely no technical reason to symmetrize this signal by means a of 'junction box' just to overcome a tonarm cable length between 1m and 1.5m (3 to 5 feet).
Go for C-37 and Cinch.

Thanks Martin. I'll see if I can get my hands on a C-37 for a trial. I found Tranparent can reterminate my phono cable.

Brought the Simaudio 810lp out and connected to the my Sim setup. Without a doubt sounds better with total synergy. I know, duh!! Of course the sim phonostage is going to sound better connected to sim gear. Now, my Accuphase rack is empty missing the TT. Another 10,000 for new TT and phonostage, probably not. Oh well.

Burmester 100. It has XLR input and output.
With Hot pin assignment to match those of Accuphase's.
