A Sad Loss
I have a friend in Dufur, Oregon who experienced a real loss this past Sunday.
A fire, which apparently was caused by a malfunctioning trickle charger, burned down his man cave/shop. He lost his shop, tools and other possessions including a load of vintage audio gear. No one was hurt but I know he's hurting inside because he also lost his truck. It was a well maintained 2006 2500 Cummins QC, 6 speed manual with very low miles. In jest he advertised it on FB as a hot low rider that burns a little oil now and then. A bunch of us have complimented him on the fantastic flame job on the bed side paint. As it is, he was insured but you never come out whole when these things happen. As for his friends, we’ll all pitch in and get him back on his feet. I have some vintage audio gear to contribute to the effort. We have a shop to build, a man cave to equip and we’ll help him spend his insurance money.

Michael.......That is a sad loss of possessions but the blessing is no loss of life. Things can be replaced and rebuilt. A life cannot. Your friendship and help will be rewarded in seeing this person back up and running in the future.

Dan summed it up very well.
Over the years many have suggested I use these "battery tenders" for my collector cars over the winter while they're not being used but I always shied away from them for reasons that are apparent in this thread. Best to disconnect the battery altogether and deal with batteries in the spring. |
