So has anyone with 20.7s heard the 30.7s? I am quite happy with mine so I have no real urge to travel to hear the 30s.

Default Magnepan 30.7 Loudspeaker

I still wonder if someone with a 20.7 plus a really nice fine-tuned sub or subs is likely to experience what the 30.7 can do. After all, it sounds as if the tweeter and midrange of the 30.7 are the same as those of the 20.7 so if all one is doing is adding more bass, a good sub (if properly integrated) might do just as good? There is no new technology from what I can tell.

So I really like my setup. I have hesitated with any sub. But I do have a Martin logan descent sub not in use. It is very musical , sealed and even has a 25 he volume knob if I just wanted to dink w that. I just feel like it would be a sacrilege. But then on the other hand I wonder as my room is 17x30. Any opinions? I would have to lug it down about 15 steps. would I lose my planar bass magic. ?

The bass in the Maggies is nice bass but not “magic bass” in my book. A good sub will add a new dimension to the bass of the Maggies. I suggest that you try that.

I have the 3.7 model and have 2 jl audio subs hooked up.
Sometimes I use the subs, sometimes I do not.
Having the option is nice.

Nicoff - do you have a sub or 2 with your 20.7?
