Default Phase correction file for 800D2 - and now added 800D3

For those who use JRiver, you may like to try the attached.

Save the attached wav to your local drive and then add it as a convolution filter in JRiver DSP studio.

The file should also be valid for 800D1, and a pretty good match for 802D1 or D2.

In addition to crossover phase correction I also included a small amount of PEQ.

There's about 1.3dB of reduction to the treble peak at 10kHz and a 2.5dB notch at 3.6kHz to partly cancel the existing 3-4db peak at the same frequency.

Actually, I've already improved it slightly, so here's a revision....

Also added is a filter for purely phase correction (without FR correction) and a best guess phase correction file for owners of 800 / 802 D3 series.

Default Phase correction file for 800D2

I have the 802D1. Can you make one for me? Or does your original file cover it?

Try the revised (800D2v2) filter first and see what you think, because it should be pretty close.

But yes, I might be able to optimise the bass end a bit better for the 802D1, so I'll get to work on it.

OK, here is a more specific filter for the 802D1

It's optimised for the slightly higher Q bass tuning, and I've reduced the bass bump by 2dB.

Let me know if you think you need further tailoring of the bass or treble.

You probably have documented this somewhere, but what is the cause of the phase issue you are correcting? Does it have to do with driver integration or something? Electronics?

Not to sound ungrateful or insulting, but are you actually in the industry? I was sort of under the impression you were associated officially with one of the industry trade magazines like Stereophile or the Absolute Sound, but when I think about it, I am not sure there is any reason for me to believe that is the case except that the name Art Vandelay sounds like the name of a person who could plausibly be the editor of such a publication. In fact it sounds so much like a person who could be an audiophile magazine editor that I am still not sure if I have read articles drafted by Art Vandelay in the past magazines or not.

But when I googled your name to confirm this however, it turns out Art Vandelay is the alias used by George Costanza uses when he is impersonating various tradesmen. I don't remember those episodes, however, so I never made the connection. But the name has such inherent plausibility that you could be in the trade for some reason that I am still not really sure if it is a reference to Seinfeld or not... I swear I read an article by Art Vandelay in stereophile once...

The issue is the phase distortion that's generated by the passive crossovers (filters), so the filter correction will result in a much flatter phase response between 20Hz and 20kHz.

Please note that the subjective result is quite subtle, but hopefully, you will hear a difference for the better.
