Default Opened a few Eyes to Audio

Last evening we hosted about 40 people for the dessert portion of our subdivision progressive dinner. Since it was the last stop the sweets and drinks kept everyone in our home for about three hours. During that time several of the guests ended up in my two channel room trying to figure out what all the separate boxes were for.

After getting past the "how loud will it go" questions I was able to demonstrate how sitting in the right area makes the speakers disappear while simultaneously creating that magical image between the speakers. This opened a few eyes to the magic of high end audio.

Cool, what music selections did you play to show off your system?

I picked a few tracks from a Tidal/Roon playlist and played a bit of Rhiannon Giddens "She's Got You", Josh Groban's "99 Years", Sturgill Simpson's "Oh Sarah" , Charles Lloyd "Unsuffer Me" and from the Greatest Showman soundtrack "Never Enough". I also had requests for something by Queen and a Johnny Cash track.

I didn't spend too much time downstairs so it was limited.

It’s cool turning people on to our hobby. Most people have not heard a high quality track on a great system. Songs they’ve heard on the car stereo for years suddenly become a whole new tune.

I usually start with popular music that wasn’t recorded well and move towards great sounding older music and then some of my best sounding high Rez tracks and blow them away!

I get that rush when I have someone ask me to play something on my system. I hope that they at least know a little about classical, because that's where my system shines. It's funny because they find me and then it's "I was using the guest bathroom and I got nosey, can you show me how it works"

With your system they must really be blown away, as they're not likely to hear a system like yours at their local Hifi shop even.

That’s amazing......I would have figured that would be the first question.
