2020 Toyota Supra
Sounds promising and it should be a good looking sports car. Real shame it is 8sp automatic only. https://www.caranddriver.com/toyota/supra

I’ve had my eye on this for a while. I’d love to have a new Supra in the garage with my 1985 SupraIMG_3006.jpgIMG_0066.jpeg

Damn Pete6737 thats a nice car! My 2nd car was an 85 in white...followed by an 88turbo (~450hp) and 94TT (~550hp). Are/were you SOGI member or at any of the meets?

Yep I remember lusting after an 85 Supra. My first job my boss drove a white one. Never bought one since I fell in love with an RX-7 sometime later.

Thank you! I am not a member of SOGI. After a quick search I could not find what that group is, can you advise? I’ve believe that the MKII Supras appeal to me more, acknowledging that later year Supras were stupid fast with Turbo. I just like cruisin slow so everyone can get a good look! They are rare in Florida. I also was a big fan of the RX7. Kinda the same idea, long nose, short back 2dr! The new Supra doesn’t catch my eye at the moment. It looks like other Toyota cars from the few pics I’ve seen. Maybe I’ll warm up to it in real life. I really would love to have a new Supra with a retro one side by side in my garage. IMG_7404.jpg I took this pic of my Supra next to a Delorian. Both cars got more attention than a lot of the other cars on display. Take me back to the 80s! S.O.G.I. : Supra Owners Group International. Looks like the site closed in 2006 (sold my mkiv in 2001 at a great profit when original F&F debuted). Looks like supraforums.com is the new site for owners. Back on topic, I saw the concept car at NY Autoshow a few years ago (supposed to be 2018 release). It was impressive, had a ton of “features” but at the price point, was just another Japanese supercar trying to get into the Italian/German club. The latest production model has been tamed a bit and is a bit boring. It helps that it shares the drivetrain with the BMW Z4, but also hurts it cause it’s not that easily tuned monster engine unique to the Supra! What made my mkiii and mkiv so special was with a basic exhaust/intake and modified BOV on the turbo, I gained 100+ HP. The mkiv was easily modified to 500-550 HP before needing to worry about clutch capability. For under $5,000 in mods they were true top performing street racers that even Lamborghini’s of the time couldn’t keep up with. Im afraid the new model is just too tame, lacks that tuner potential the original had...it says alot about the final car that it’s scheduled to be racing in the NASCAR Xfinity series in 2019! |

I’m curious to see the final product that will hit the street. I’m hopeful that I will like what I see in person and that I can afford one, seeing that there’s a wide price range speculated. I don’t think we will see a car that can be easily modded for high HP.

Looks like this is the only pic of the 2020 Supra without all the camo markup on the body. Last edited by pete6737; 11-05-2018 at 03:03 PM. |

I kinda like it, I suspect it will compete with the Nissan and BMW 'Z' cars ?
what will it have for a motor ? |
