Question Is this a mismatch?

Does anyone else have any thoughts about whether or not matching a B&W HTM3S center with a pair of 802Ns (fronts) and a pair of 805Ns (rears) would present a mismatch issue?

Thank you very much for your time.

Hard to replace with a different brand, too.

Just looked, there's a HTM1 red cherry on the 'gon right now in Colorado...
Now there is one in our Marketplace.

I did a test when I bought my HTM1N. I ran one 802N and the Center in stereo on same amp. Other then bass, the match was awesome. I would look around and wait to get a cherry HTM1N. Any other centre would be a compromise.

I think it's the HTM4D, not the HTM1N?

That's a very good point, HD Vid Guy. Off and on, we've been looking for a Red Cherry HTM1N -- to match our 802Ns and 805Ns -- for many years. We just missed one that was sold recently on Audiogon, but they're pretty hard to come by these days -- especially one that's in great shape.

We've got a line on a local red cherry HTM3S. Do you have any thoughts on using that model with our 80XNs?

I don’t have any experience with that center. Seems like a good option at this point.

Apart from your reply about the B&W HTM3S (above), do you have any thoughts on multi-channel amplifiers? I'm asking because I see that you've invested in Bryston equipment, and I'm interested in learning more about the brand -- especially their multi-channel products.

Currently I'm running the 14B for the 802N's and 6B (three channel amp) for my center and rear speakers. More then enough power on the 6B to cover that.

From what I heard, Bryston has not committed to upgrade the 6B to the Cubed version. Guessing this amp has much lower sale volumes and not worth the effort. I've seen the 6B on the used market a number of times.

hdvidguy..... Would you mind telling me more about the "cubed" type Bryston amps? As I understand the design, it's a modular amplifier system...but please correct me if I'm wrong. Your impressions would be greatly appreciated.
