Default special parts required for my ARC Ref40

Hi,
As I have removed my stereo set away from big flood months ago, and was busy with my work, now I have some spare time to bring them all back.
I want to put ARC REF 40 preamp in a new place, but that would make
the power supply unit and audio unit too far apart.
Do you think ARC will make me a special 1.7 meters long umbilical cords ?
Do you think the extra 50cm. long compare to the supplied cords will has negative effect on the sound ? This is what I worried that the extra resistance may change the sound in a negative way.

Thanks

Hi Toga. Yes, the local ARC dealer informed me that ARC can provide longer umbilical cables. I don't think the extra 50cm will affect the sound quality since any additional resistance will be minimal and the chance of the cables picking up noise will be negated by what looks to me is a very well shielded power supply cable.

FWIW

I seem to remember with the SP10 and SP11 ARC said longer ps cords didn't sound as good and wouldn't increase the length.

Doesn't make sense to me but that's what I recall

Default I telephoned AR ....

...to ask them about a longer cable. I was told that they would not recommend a longer cable as it made the Ref 40 sound worse than the Ref 5. They strongly suggested against it. So...I changed my configeration, and went with a bigger rack...

Thanks. I Then will find time to call them.
But then it would mean that If we use even shorter cords, sound should be improved ?
or if they use audiophile grade copper and connecter the sound could be improved too then. Cable specialty should make a special grade umbilical cords for this preamp.

Yep, Customer Service Department confirmed to me that, approaching 5 feet long of umbilical cords and Ref40 doesn't sound Reference anymore. Understandable.
