What’s some gooooood bass yet somewhat bright cans

I’m interested in trying them for sure. I’m just nervous they won’t have good strong bass. I don’t mean they may not. I bet they have good bass. I’m just thinking about the bass in the Beats Studio 2 and 3 wireless. I’m not sure what to call it. It’s a very warm headphone. Too warm for my preference but it has good bass that I like. It’s just too warm of a sounding can.

Personally i think Audeze el-8 and probably other Audeze's have fantastic bass. NOT overpowering, which is what i think beats is doing.

I think the Beats bass is emphasized but also the overall sound is very warm. I’m not sure if I think the Beats bass is overpowering like if the sound was more bright maybe it wouldn’t be?
I didn’t like the Audeze iSine 20 much for bass. I didn’t like the comfort though. For me it was not good. The sound was more bright that I prefer but not enough bass. I think I even liked the sound better from the B&W P7W. I think I preferred that over the isine 20. However the P7W didn’t have enough bass either. None of the cans I’ve tried had enough bass except the Beats but that sound is too warm. And right now I’m listening to the free Apple U2 album Songs of innocence. I notice a little sibalince in the s with the Beats Studio 3. Very swarm and the bass seems too hot. Quantity seems ok but too warm.

I am buying from Crutchfield. They have an awesome return policy and I have a Sony Services card with them. And I’ll get 6 month financing.

I don’t like open back because I can hear everything around me too much. I will be living in my new apartment soon and I can very easy hear anything that’s happening in the hallway on the other side of the front door.

Crutchfield has the Audeze EL8 closed back for $699 or something so if the Audeze site really has it for $340 I hope they’ll match it. I don’t remember seeing it that cheap on Audeze site. Where is that? The Audeze EL8 closed back is already on my list to try

I've auditioned these numerous times. At that time they were indeed close to 700USD, and I still wanted them.

At this price, no brainer, Imo.

Open back not near as good as the closed back I'm, and this is coming from an open back lover.

Build quality is hard to match.


Definitely hear them first though if you can, and make sure you can return. So e people did not like this sound.

I've never heard the titanium version.

I only heard these briefly, but the audioquest night owl might fit the bill for you. I really liked them.

EL-8 has been out of stock for about a month on Audeze's web site. I really wanted to love them, but when I heard them at Rocky Mountain Audio show I was disappointed. I told the guy I was expecting more, the Audeze guy agreed and said I should expect more and asked me to try on some different pairs. Even Though I was disappointed I might get them anyway. They are the only closed back worth trying with a lightning cable. That makes them the only game in town. The demo el-8 also didn't have the lightning cable on my demo so it could sound much different.

Oh crap. Sorry. I didn't realize until now they are used. Holy crap. Mind fart. That dampens it for me a bit, but, I've watched so many amazing Z reviews on YouTube, he's my favorite reviewer, and he changes pads and cables on nearly everything that is sent to him. Maybe I can do that.

Wait what about the Audeze Sine series. Did you already try those? Supremely comfortable with decent sound and do have lightning cable. I did like the El-8 sound better but thought the Sine was nearly as good. Someone mentioned Audioquest NightOwls. I haven't heard those but i did try the open back Nighthawks which were easily the most comfortable headphones I've ever felt, more comfortable even than the Sony MDR1a, HD650 or Grado sr60i w/soft pads.



How about Lumoid and The Cable Company.

Would you guys mind renting headphones to try and see what to purchase?

Lumoid has limited options in headphones but it does allow you to choose 3 cans for 65 bucks, including El-8 and Sony z7.

If you watch z review Sony z7, on YouTube, he says the bass is phenomenal in presence and control, on those cans and they are closed-back.

The cable company is good because you can rent headphones, amps, cables and other gear for 5% of the retail value of the item, for two weeks. If you decide to purchase, your initial rental payment goes towards your purchase they are located in PA.

Wow. Rentals? That’s cool. But then they’re used. Jerms. Health. Meaning for a phobia person they’d not like that probably. I’m not that type. Lol. But I do care about this aspect of trying headphones.

I didn’t like the isine 20. Not comfortable and lack of bass. Plus I think I liked the sound better from the B&W P7W or even others I’ve tried. There wasn’t anything special with the isine 20 at all to me. I had a tight as I could get fit I think. But then they’re not really like iem tight fit at all. Plus I don’t like open back at all.
