The big components in my system are set for the year because I am quite pleased with them, and I am using 2020 to finish preparing for retirement in 2021. However, I do hope to upgrade a couple of power cords and interconnects one level up in the Transparent Audio line in 2020.
If I win the lottery in 2020, I would like a dCS Bartok DAC and pair of Rockport Technology Avior II speakers to join my system. Last edited by Imapo; 01-01-2020 at 05:41 PM. Reason: I forgot some stuff |

Big plans for 2020 here. I'm retiring at the end of January and will be selling a big chunk of my current system, selling our house, building a new house with a dedicated HT and listening room and finally put it all back together again with the setups I've been wanting for the past couple years. Time will tell how it turns out but that's the plan. Looking forward to a fun year!

Buying all of these is unlikely to happen this year because I can't afford them all, realistically, but I'm looking at a new turntable, a new TV, and perhaps some power cords. Not because I need any of it, but these are adjustments I can live with for the long haul. The VPI I have is closing in on 28 years old; I intend to cannibalize the VPI, taking the arm (SME 309) to save money on the new rig, which leans toward a Sota Sapphire or Nova. The practical reason is the Sotas are excellent at resisting vibrations, essential in my room. Even though I have a Gingko Cloud platform, I'd feel better with the Sota.

I'm looking at a streamer that can do multi-channel also.
Candidates: Grimm MU1, Merging Nadac. And I'm planning on enjoying a lot of good music live!

Most of the upgrade's I'm doing started early November with a phone call to Ivan.
As a result, I initiated a my largest upgrade ever. Below is a list of upgrades:
Also, I must mention Ivan (aka MasterLu). I wouldn't have been able to accomplish so much without all of his efforts. If he's isn't the first person you contact regarding additions or upgrades he certainly should be. Back to 2020. I fully expect that before January has expired, I will have everything assembled and singing away. I'm so close now I sometimes think I can feel the house rumble or, perhaps that was just an earthquake? Hard to tell in CA. As for anything else in 2020 I doubt it. Anything else, would be only if I forgot some bit needed to complete the install. After this you can put a fork in me and call me done - at least for 2020.

Tomorrow I'll be ordering my new system.....Pass Labs int 250 integrated amp, MSB Discrete DAC with optional second power supply, and Roon Nucleus. I've already purchased speakers (Harbeth Super HL 5+ 40th Anniversary Model), stands, AudioQuest Rocket 88 speaker cables and 3 Mackenzie interconnects. Can't wait!

Well last year I said that I wasn't going to buy much if anything. I ended up spending about 25k, if you don't count the fact that I bought a new house (with dedicated music room).
I really "need" nothing. Nada. But alas, I'm in the queue for the Ref6 upgrade. I am really going to try to give it a break after that and just buy records! |
