These are pics of my new Wilson Pedestals under my main Mac source gear. As I have said elsewhere I am a speaker aficionado. I have felt that S/N the most important regarding power conditioners and cords. If you have no hum or hiss at full volume you are in excellent shape using excellent quality but inexpensive cords, conditioners, cables, and IC's. There might be a 5-10 percent improvement with ultra high quality ones but you have to be the judge where you want to spend your money. Same for isolation/vibration gear. Remove the source gear far away from between the speakers, if possible. Having said all that like the well trained audiophile that eventually contradicts everything he says sooner or later, below are my Macs on the new and very expensive Wilson Pedestals. The MCD1100 was the difficult one. Finally, I got it level. How does the system sound? In one or two words, significantly better. I wish that I could say otherwise. So I guess Ivan and Puma and all who are into gear like this are smiling.

MCD1100 MVP881and D1100 in descending order

Everything plugged into a Niagara 7000 seen below

That's a 25 lb rated Pedestal under the left front footer of my MCD1100; only way I could get it level.

Final set of pics show the MCD1100 with Pedestals front and rear. I had to work to get the unit level but it is level. Mac makes some of the most beautiful gear in the world. The Pedestal slide right under very easily.

brownbear, "floating club". Didn't know there was one but thank you. Glad to be a member. I hope folks realize that I poke fun at myself all the time. A concern I have with some isolation gear is statements from some folks that it has changed the frequency balance of their systems. I don't want a change in the damping of my bass or the level of my treble or its quality, etc.

The Pedestals are meant to work with Wilsons. I believe they will work well with other speakers but I don't know. It concerns me that folks that change out their speaker bases, etc. and then report rather marked changes in their sound (frequency balance of their speakers). It takes months of listening to determine if the change is better.

For example, a tightening of bass means increased damping of the bass. My bass doesn't need changing, etc. Wilson says the Pedestal make everything sound better. They are talking about a little bit in the sense there is slightly better mid and treble resolution and the bass a little fuller.

Thanks for the comment.

Don’t sweat it Charles. While it is possible to slightly alter a speaker cabinet sonic signature with vibration damping, you can not and will not change a sonic signature of an electronic component. It’s all been tested in labs for various reasons for many decades. Precision instruments are in demand in modern society and we can’t have electronic components shifting and drifting due to some minor vibrations. Imagine NASA rocket heading for Mars only to miss it because some resistors or transistors don’t like vibration and decide to change their specs or alter their output somehow. What a mess that would be. Yes NASA and others deploy vibrational control but that is to prevent mechanical failures.

Take it from a guy that for decades has experimented with various materials from stone, to wood to metal to bicycle tubes under components with pressure gauges. In the audio land, our “imagination” is the best upgrade there is, albeit the most expensive in the end. Have fun and enjoy the “everything sounds better now, better than when the component was designed and voiced by the designer” if it sounds better now, that’s all that matters.

I suspect there are 50 different ways to post pics on AA. While I will never be as competent as Carl, Charles H., Marc or many others, I have found a method that seems to work for me. It was a long trek. I had to purchase a really good camera. When I first tried I was so disappointed. It's truly amazing how different this method is than my original attempts. This method bypasses AA altogether. It's simply copy, paste, and hooray, there's the pic.

First pic is the new Galaxy Grey Thor. I think the location is actually better than stereo subs behind the speakers because the Thor is in plane with the mains (XVX). No HP employed. LP crossover 30 Hz. Phase set at 90 degrees. Balanced IC AQ Wolf 22' running from new Watch Controller to 1.25 KW, middle amp. All IC's in my system are balanced. Thor independent from mains.

Next pic shows the relationship of the Thor with the mains much better. Bass power of this system when bass is "there" is bone crushing.

Shows a side view of the Wilson Audio Specialties XVX and its relationship to the Thor. There is plenty of room for the rear firing tweeter to operate. The air intake is padded and there is no filter. The filter is at the unit and changed annually by the A/C company.

This room is a converted attic that is directly over the garage. It is 15.5' wide. Walls are 5' and length it 40'. Ceiling height 8'. Although it doesn't look like much it is built like a tank and totally isolated from rest of house.

Shows the length of the room and the distance between the source gear, i.e. cabinet, and the speakers. Sofa located opposite the main cabinet.

Shows the massive crossover (45 lbs.) encased in carbon fiber, the resistors and the binding posts necessary to connect all modules of the speaker.

Shows a rear view of the chronometers.

Was walking in the neighborhood yesterday and found this interesting.

Thanks, Joe. BTW, you have a fantastic system. I notice that you seem to work within sound signatures. Very smart and shows a lot of sophistication. I didn't notice any subs but not everyone is a bass freak like me. The Thor IMO is the best sub Wilson makes unless you are going all out and use stereo subs, i.e. stereo Audio Subsonics. These subs weigh in a 611 lbs (Thor at 411 lbs sensitivity 89 dB) and sensitivity 87 dB. You need a huge amp for the Thor and stereo amps of the same power for the Subsonics. The Subsonics I am told are a little faster (12" as opposed to 15" woofers for Thor) but the Thor goes lower and has more absolute output. Both are fantastic subs. The difference is price. I have 63,000.00 in my sub system as opposed to at least 130,000.00 for equivalent Subsonic system. I'd rather have my configuration and Thor for the same price. The new Thor is made of 3rd gen X-material and you can hear the difference.

Wilson was so kind to me. When my original Watch Controller went out they gave me a new one free of charge. Didn't even have to pay freight. Then notice how the bottom end of the new Thor is finished out. This should cost additional two grand but they did it at no charge. Wilson certainly did not have to do this.

I am using Imgur to post pics. It's so easy even I can do it. I can't take credit. My son who is in IT showed me how to use it but it was finding it that was the key. Using Imgur you click on the pic in your Imgur file, choose your thumbnail size, copy and paste. Even I can do that.

Thanks for the kind words Charles. Yes - I also work within sound signatures, as they say I like what I like Subs are definitely on my list to add/try someday, they're just not in the cards right now.
