Default The skys the limit

With ARC Introducing a 30k phono-preamp and a recently Introduced 30k line stage. It seems like the Sky's are the limit. I wonder how long it will be for the Reference ARC pieces to be 50k and above.

VAC is already making a 50k phono-pre and Pass just recently released some amps that cost 85k. It seems like the high-end companies are producing more expensive gear every year. There doesn't seem to be a cap on what they can charge.

Sky is the limit when it comes to price tags.

Not sure about sound quality though.
Diminishing returns.....

Maybe emerging markets' client preferences regarding pricing and exclusivity play a role...

I get the feeling the high price is more Important than how it sounds. It's almost a psychological game.

But if its phycological I am soooo happy my brain is crazy

I concur thought the hifi world is spiraling out of control. I figure the ones who don't have the sound to go with the price will soon be gone. One reason to research what we buy. Who doesn't want to be the next Krell, Pass Labs, Ayre etc.. If we charge enough and get the word to spread were in

On a level I see your point. The mainstream world believes we are delusional to acquire 5,6 or even 7 figure stereos. I am not sure if they believe we drink the Kool Aid or would sacrifice our first born for our passion. What I do know is that when a novice listens to my system they do hear something unlike anything thy have herd before. They are often very interested in getting something like it, at least until they hear the price. Than the "greatest show on Earth" suddenly morphs into "I am the greatest schmo on Earth".

I find it interesting what some hear and what others choose to believe they hear.

Mike.......To each their own. If you are happy, what do you care if someone else thinks you're a "schmo"? Honestly, who cares what other people think. Life is not a dress rehersal so have it your way. The same holds true for others. If you don't see the value that's fine. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions and a lifestyle they work hard to achieve. Make yourself and your loved ones happy. That's really all that matters.

its funny you say that because that is pretty much exactly the way it goes here. They hear, they like, I tell them the "modest hifi price" which in my case was about $20,000 before the sell off, they poop themselves, they tell me how stupid that is
