Default Rega Apheta 2 Loading

I just had the most incredible listening session in years, 45RPM MOFI of Dylan's The Freewheeling, and 45RPM Blue Note, Art Blakey, and the Jazz Messengers. Moaning. Simply heaven

Hello Doug,
I know precisely what you mean.
One of my very best listening experience was about 6 years ago, in a hifi show at the Marriott Paris.
Rega RP6/ Apheta 1/ IOS REFERENCE phono stage / Osiris amp / RS10 speakers.
The sound was trully intoxicating. Pure bliss of supreme obviousness and naturalness.
The room was named best of the show by pro reviewers and public attendance.
( On a side note the music played through this system with the Isis cd player was also jaw dropping ).
For all these years I wanted to try an Apheta on my P9 but never did because of the load problem many experienced and I did not want to invest a lot in the IOS phono stage because I already had many phonostages including pretty expensive ones like the ARC REF PHONO 2.
Finally I will be trying the Apheta 2 this week !

Default Rega Apheta 2 Loading

I just now jumped on the Rega bandwagon. Installed my RP10 w/ Apheta 2 this past weekend. Sounds incredible. Really loving this turntable/cart via MC phono on my McIntosh C1100 loaded at 100 ohm.

Hello Doc,
The great minds come together !
Rega is having very tough work to have people believe that their top of the line products are on par with the best ones from high end companies.
The image pf Rega is still associated with budget components.
I am glad to see more and more users of high end giving credit to their top products.
Seems that the Apheta 2 is a big change from the 1 when it comes to impedance matching.

Jerome - very curious to hear how you liked the Apheta 2, especially in combination with your new Cyrus phono...

I have been considering adding the Apheta 2 to my P9 (and upcoming Cyrus phono).

Rene

Hello Rene,

I had a terrible headache and had to cancel my visit to the dealer. I may go next thursday to borrow it.

Jerome - did you have a chance to try out the Apheta 2?

The new Ania looks interesting as well - very little comments available so far. I am considering either one for the P9 into the Cyrus in my second system.

Hello Rene,

No I just did not have the time to go to my dealer !
I also wanted to try a good MM in my Shindo phono stage so I ordered the Ortofon 2M Black.
The sound is very very close to what I love for vinyl. It misses the ultimate impacts of the good MC carts but it has other strengths. I think that I will stay as is for a moment.

The P9 is a very underrated table - at times I miss mine.

Hi Jérôme, are you using any shims on the tone arm with the Ortofon? I've thought about Ortofons for my P-9 but thought they were too tall and don't fancy having to add shims.
