Sony’s newest in the BRAVIA line, the XBR10, has the features one would expect from a new LCD television. Featuring Sony’s Motionflow 240Hz, Netflix, YouTube and Amazon Video-on-Demand streaming, and LED edge backlighting, the XBR10 stands among several displays that offer similar features. Always eager to separate from the pack however, Sony made one significant change. The XBR10 is – aside from the requisite power cable – completely wireless.
An included media server will handle all the processing, streaming and networking services. Taking much of the grunt work from the TV itself allowed Sony to create an impressively thin display. At just under 17mm thick, this incredibly slim LCD looks absolutely stunning.
A 52” model priced at $5000 and a 46” model with a $4,500 price tag will be shipping this October. With a price significantly higher than comparative televisions from competitors, and surprisingly lacking local Triluminos dimming, consumers will decide whether a clean looking setup is worth the extra money.
