Default Leben RS-30EQ Phono

Great little phono, especially with a SUT.

You can sort of tell the designer used to work for Luxman.

Beautiful - and I love the interior layout. I love the looks of the Leben gear and the fact that they are often mentioned with Shindo makes it sound very appealing. I also like the fact that their integrated amp has a tone control for the bass.

I thought the tone controls may appeal Alberto

Can't say I have heard any of their other gear.

Alberto,

I would have suggested the Leben integrated to you except that since it ONLY has the bass control I figured it would not suit you.

Thanks, but it's hard to search the web for Shindo without running into Leben - so I read quite a bit about them and I saw them at Matt's store. In terms of aesthetics, I think they are even prettier than the Shindo.

Alberto

P.S. About tone controls. I rigged my setup with the C34V going into the Auriges as an input. It's a strange configuration but it allows me to have tone controls and a softer sound when the recording calls for it. It has been very successful so far - I will do a post about it soon. It's a having your cake and eat it too kind of configuration .

Alberto....I agree about the beauty of Leben over the Shindo gear.....did you get to compare the sound between them?

If I were to get an integrated it would be the Leben CS600 and a visit to Matt's place would be great.

The Shindo look has its own appeal, but for someone like me who really digs the gold/brass looks of the old Fisher gear, it's particularly appealing.

Alas, I've not listened to the Leben gear due to not enough time and not wanting to take up too much of Matt's time since had another appointment.

So you are basically running one pre amp into another pre amp for one input at least Alberto The audiophile union will have you tossing back your work permit.

Don't you have to say change your CD input from the Mac, then to the Shindo to remove the mac influence each time?

Due to my deeply held belief that euphonious distortion is - by definition* - a good thing, the audiophile union and I have parted ways long ago - and neither one of is missing the other one bit . However, there are encouraging signs of audio companies stopping - and even reversing - their march toward faster, leaner, more accurate and detailed sound ... just because new technology allows them to. Wilson's new, sweeter sounding speakers, are a perfect example.

About my inbred setup...

Since my MDA has multiple outputs (as does the MCD201), I don't have to plug and unplug anything to add the C34V in the loop, I just switch input selector on the Shindo.

This setup is just as good, if not better, than fully defeatable tone controls.

Alberto

* Euphonious = "sweet sounding"
