I think I'd like to spend close to a season in various regions before deciding. I do know the Amalfi coast is high on the list, though.

Hire a fast car, Mercedes or better. At times you need to push 200kph to stay safe. There are only 2 fixed cameras on route as I recall. We did it in a MB. Cote d'Azur, Cinque Terre, Tuscany.... You need a fast car. F U N ! The Italians are aggressive drivers & a Ford Focus just won't cut it through the mountains...

My wife, Anna, and one of our friends are headed to Rome on Thursday. My oldest son, Michael (pictured) is studying there this semester.
These are Michael's fellow UofI classmates who are also studying abroad this year. They were on spring break when these pics were taken. Their spring break trip included; Florence, Verona, Venice, Paris, The Netherlands, Brussels and back to Rome. Saying that I am bummed that I can't go is an understatement.... but work comes first as I am adding a new department in my business. |

I lived in Venice for 2 years a decade ago. Fantastic time, and I met my wife there!

For me Liguria combines the best of Italy. Fantastic weather, great scenery, fantastic food and the best olive oil imho and PESTO!
