Sergei Prokofiev - The 2 Violin Concertos - Sonata for Violin Solo in D major
Russian National Orchestra, Vasily Petrenko
Arabella Steinbacher, violin

Recording quality is glorious (5.0), but the Oistrakh interpretations I have are better.
Still, this is a fine disc.

Penderecki - Concerto for violin and orchestra - Concerto for horn and orchestra
Sinfonietta Cracovia, conducted by Krzysztof Penderecki
Radovan Vlatkovic, horn
Robert Kabara, violin

Impressive, modern pieces, that are still accessible.
Wonderful 5.0 recording.

This was playing into my practice and waiting room:

Henry Purcell - Fantasias for the Viols
Hespèrion XX, Jordi Savall

It is hardly understandable how it's possible that a 21 year old composer could write such mature pieces.
This is a terrific disc.

Now listening to:

Mozart - Clarinet Concerto - Kegelstatt Trio - Allegro in B Flat Major
Martin Fröst, basset clarinet/ clarinet

What a great album this is!
And Fröst really gets the best accompaniment he could wish.

Frédéric Chopin - Piano Concertos
Scottish Chamber Orchestra, Jun Märkl
Ingrid Fliter, piano

The piano here is better recorded than the orchestra, which sounds a bit dull on this album.
Fliter plays well, and I do think the other musicians do that too, but the balance between the 2 is rather poor.

Mozart - Symphonies - Volume 6
The Danish Radio Sinfonietta, Adám Fischer

Nice interpretation of some of the "middle symphonies".
Sound is very decent.

Cool. I own and endorse the previous six recordings, starting after the Jonas Kaufman. I like Kaufman, too, but don't care for compilations of vocal excerpts.

66 minutes of unabated angst and anger might not be everyone's idea of pleasant listening, but Pettersson's fans should rejoice over this new release. The Norrköping Symphony Orchestra does a heroic job of playing very demanding and intense music. BIS provides pristine sound.
