Gary.......If I didn't know you are joking, I would have to delete your trade offer.

We all know there is no buying, selling, or trading done on the open forum outside the Marketplace.

What, my offer doesn't seem like a reasonable trade? I'd be very happy with it.

Gary.......I suggest you don't hold your breathe waiting on the 1.2's to arrive.

Both of these speakers are efficient, sound very good, and are far easier to place in a room.

JBL L220

JBL 250ti

Awesome speakers. Those are classics, and with good reason. They don't really make 'em like that anymore barring the Synthesis line.

Hartsfield drivers are not as sophisticated as todays drivers. The horn driver has a severe roll off starting around 10 khz and the bass doesn't extend down to the lowest octave. Like Kornerhorns from Klipsch they are very efficient. Was Paul to have said all the world needs is a great 10 watt amp? All you would need is a pair of MC225's running mono. They have the ability to be clear and clean where a Mc 60 is a little more euphonic in nature. Lets see with 103 db sensitivity or there abouts 60 watts would give you 120 db at 4 ft. What more do you want? How about adding a tweeter? How about selecting one of the DD series where the woofer distortion is 10's of times less than a Hartsfield and the tweeter responds way above 20,000 HX. Sounds like a better choice to me.

It appears that Kenrick does the best restos in the world, but the toons they play through all those gorgeous speakers is enough to make a deaf dog cry.

Those Hartsfields need this to really sing!

Back to the original question the speaker was rated at 30 watts giver or take a few depending on the crossover settings, with an standard peaking factor of 4 or about 6 db, where today it would be 10 db. So that means a 2105 Mac would be about perfect with the meters never going above - 3 db connected to the 16 ohm tap. If you had the discipline your 1.2 k could never go above - 10 db do to the impedance mis match. As others have said everything needs to be rebuilt. Crossover parts replaced, the woofer re-coned, and a new diaphragm for the HF horn. I would add a super tweeter with additional crossover. Maybe JBL could recommend a newer woofer to extend the LF response and lowering the distortion . They are beautiful.
