I am going to try 6 grafted heirlooms this year. 2 each of purple Cherokee, mortgage lifter and brandywine. Grafting the heirloom to a hybrid root/stem apparently provides disease resistance and productivity of a hybrid with the taste of an heirloom. We’ll see how that goes. My heirlooms have done poorly the past few years, so I am hopeful. Not necessarily expectant. But hopeful.
