Ivan, it would also be great if the music used to demo was also available for sale. I can't count the number of times I would have bought a CD of something I heard and really liked but they didn't sell music. I give for selling music too!

I have 2 dealers who sell interesting music.
One has a collection of over 10000 albums to listen to, he sells a lot of them.
The other has some rare (SA)CD's-DVD's.
I already bought music there!
I encourage you to do the same.

I prefer doing my research and purchasing from my office desk. Time efficient. Downloading is the future.

I think it's a great idea and Serge had a good idea about the headphones station setup!

I do have a audio store near me that Sells both high end audio equipment and vinyl records. I go there a fair amount and never really thought about it until you posted the question in this thread.
I usually just go there to look for records but I do check out the gear every once and a while. He will let me demo records, that I am thinking about purchasing, on his turntables. It works out good because if I go in to buy a record I may leave with a piece of audio gear and vice versa. Also, I would have never gotten to hear some of those brands if I hadn't been looking for records and found the store.

I think it's a great idea. The hardest part will be finding out what type and format of music to stock so that you can cater to all the local customers that will also be interested in purchasing the audio equipment you carry.

Ivan, it is a real interesting idea. The issue would be the cost of carrying the inventory versus the need to use the floor space. If you have space to spare and you can figure out what "turns" and what doesn't, then I think it is a great idea. A niche like "audiophile" CDs or vinyl would be even better. You might also consider whether to direct the foot traffic in a particular way or not (arguments both ways).

One thing for sure - my interest in buying music jumped waaaay up when I heard what it could sound like.
