Howie,

Buy a decent used amp to drive the speaks and get them broken in while you wait for the Swiss perfection....

Or you can borrow something from the dealer you bought the DartZeel from.

Well the Strad arrived this morning! The delivery men had a hell of a time just getting them up the stairs. They are not actually that heavy (about 165 pounds each) but the box weighs a hell of a lot.

In the UK, the airline had asked for specifications about the internal magnets and then classified them as "dangerous goods"!!!

The speakers had been held up by Customs for a day for some unknown reason. They probably thought they were coffins or something...

And here they are, the Sonus Faber Stradivari Palladio. Only 25 made in the world making them even more rare than the Fenice and this was the last pair in the world!

In the box for the bases

The Sonus Faber Blanket!

In the bases box: Cleaning liquid, cleaning kit, spike floor protectors and phillips screwdriver.

2nd Layer

More in the next post!

Floor protectors for the spikes

The spectacular and classic SF string grills.

The bases which are very heavy

The real article. I really like the naked maple colour The Vicenza Stone Woofer Plugs are pretty neat looking.

Out of the box and upside down to allow the bases to be attached to the bottom.

Rear three-quarters view

All done and standing proudly. Apparently two or more people are required to flip them up the right way but I was a little impatient

Nice badge

No serial numbers on the back, this one has pride of place on the front!

Temporary positioning until the darTZeels arrive. My wife siad they don't look nearly as imposing as the Meridian DSP8000s. I think it is colour related as they are about the same size.
The TV and Coffee table will go and the Hi Fi Rack might go between the strads if there is no where else for it.

Time to sleep

Thank you.

It's funny. I showed my wife the Tannoy Canterburys and she hated them even though I thought she would like the look. Then I showed her the strads and she said said she much preferred them. I told her of the price difference (four fold!) and she said she would prefer me to buy the strads.

Who am I to argue??!!!

Congrats. Howie
We share your excitement ! Having purchased 2 prior new pairs of SF speakers I know you will love them. The strads are my favorite speakers and I like the lighter maple finish. What are you going to be using for speakers in your home theater?
