Default Benchmark DAC3 B

Anyone using one? Am looking for a 'stand alone' DAC without the preamp/headphone amp features and the DAC B seems to fit-the-bill well.

Default Benchmark DAC3 B

decooney just got one. I’ve had its big brother the DAC 3 HGC for awhile and find it to be a stellar performer and a great match for my relatively laid back system.

Steve has one (DAC 3 HGC) for sale in the marketplace for a great price. The DAC section is identical to the DAC 3 B.

I'd recommend having a look at the iFi Pro iDSD. Comes with network streaming built in.

Don't want network streaming.
Don't want a headphone amp.
Don't want a volume control knob.
Don't want onboard storage.
Only want a DAC with a DAC chip for each of two channels, USB input & XLR outputs.

Have you considered the Mytek Brooklyn DAC or the PS Audio Stellar Gain Cell DAC?

It would be a shame to disregard a DAC just because it had some extra functions.

This is a review of some of the newer (hotter) DACs out there at the moment.

FWIW, I don't use the built in onboard storage either. And this has QUAD DAC chips, with an FPGA for filtering/upsampling. Also I feel network streaming built into a DAC seems to bring the level up tremendously, and is less dependent on the vagaries of an external USB PC connection.

Unless I'm reading what you meant wrong.

Benchmark uses a single 9028PRO to handle both channels, not a single DAC chip for each of two channels.

If you want a DAC chip per channel, chi-fi for less that $2000 or you have to step up to the Resonessence Mirus Pro which is quite a bit more money.

According to their website it is not even projected to be released until December at the earliest.
