Default Help - “Preparing Aurend Please Wait”

Hello

I turned on my N10 this morning and the display screen is showing

“Preparing Aurend Please Wait”

Normally I would be patient but it is still showing after 20 minutes. I did not trigger any updates I am aware of and read MQA is coming out and not sure if that relates or not related to a self-update? I have 150 mbps internet and the latest performance routers, in case it did.

I do shut the unit down upon listening, which is everyday.

I don’t want to to do a full power down just yet in case it is updating and does take a bit. Just wanted to hear some songs from the “what are you listening to” before work on the N10.

On a side note Conductor has been having difficulty syncing up the past few weeks requiring me to close the app, and then open versus before just open the app and it was there - not sure this is iPad issue (latest version installed) as the iPhone 7 seems to have challenges of late.

I did send a message into support about this and a MQA update, and will advise the forum. In the interim, any ideas?

On a side note, raises the question of streamer backups. I have a Mac Mini in my server room networked and dedicated to ROON and Tidal that the PSA Direct Stream/Bridge picks up so I am not dead in the water, but for today will spin a SACD of Pink Floyd.

Side note II: All my downloads and rips go to the Mac Mini and from there I drag and drop into the N10 - always best to have back up if these systems go down.

Does anyone else run a parallel backup or do you simply default to the Transport and Turntable?

I hate to be a total luddite PITA but it was these kind of issues with computer hi rez based audio, whatever software was used, that I found so frustrating that it (together with my dislike of redbook CDs) lead me back to the comforts of that ancient technology - vinyl. I just lost too many hi rez downloads that I dearly paid for due to technology/software glitches. Maybe it was my own fault, although I am fairly computer literate, but I just don't need that much frustration in my life from what is supposed to be a relaxing enjoyable hobby. I have been interested from time to time in exploring Aurender to see if it would give me the benefits of hi rez without the technology challenges. I'll therefore be interested in your resolution of this issue and wish you the very best of luck in getting this fixed.

Default Help - “Preparing Aurend Please Wait”

My digital music is on a NAS of which I have no less than 4 backups of on Hard drives spread around different buildings and cities.

I am only really worried about Kim Jong on.

It might be that you had a power hit and know it’s going through a full recovery.

I would try to reinstall the conductor app on your iPad. I have had that problem and that
was what worked for me. I have found that most of the clitches end up not being with the
Aurender even thou common sense would point to it.

Update -

Not long after the post, I ended up powering off from the front and main power at the rear - no luck. Then I went to the network switch, reset this by unplugging it, and voila, back to life.

I don’t get how this helped since everything is stored on the N10 hard drive, but it worked. - I’m just a dumb fish guy, not an IT guy.

ChrisAZ - my journey started with the idea of buying used gear and a turntable since I have around 2000 albums from the 70’s and 80’s, but ended up in a whole different direction - but that was the first thought I had after today.

Crwilli - I only use the MacMini to download and rip into then transfer, so it gives me some relief. No fear of Rocket Man, and we’re closer in Seattle

Audiophilehi - I shut down every night, and the unit is plugged into a P10, so I would think the power hit would have no affect, and there were no clocks or anything flashing, but you never know

Sea music - Two different issues, or at least that’s what I believe - but good idea, I will uninstall and reinstall - back to chrisaz, can’t this stuff just work? I do have a Bose something in the video game room for the kids I bought 15/20 years ago, never an issue even though it is no where near what is in my music room

Anyway, thank you all and hopefully if someone gets that message on their N10 and reads this it will help them.

I dont have an Aurend N10, and I obviously dont know how your network/internet is set up but I do have a plausible explanation as to what might have happened. Almost all residential high speed internet connections have IP addresses that are dynamically assigned. This is also usually the case for your internal IP address assignment as well. DHCP (Dynamic Host Control Protocol) is the specification that outlines how this whole thing works.

There is more to this than what I am explaining here, but devices are required to renew their IP address over time. Devices that dont renew (or are offline when the renewal is triggered) can lose their IP address. If a device has an IP address, it will automatically ask to use the one it was using last time. If its not in use, it will be reassigned and allowed to use it until the next time it needs to renew...

I have seen instances where a device has an IP but loses it while its installing updates as it hits a DHCP renewal period while doing the update. The device still thinks it has the IP address; the router has assigned the address to someone else. The device *should* just ask for a new one, but it gets stuck in a loop where it keeps asking to use the same IP it had last time. The router keeps telling it "no", the device asks again, rinse, and repeat.... It gets stuck in this endless loop.

Pulling the network cable and re-attaching causes the process to re-initialize correctly.

So again, not saying this what happened to you, but it would account for what you are describing.

Glad to hear everything worked out ok!

Thank you for the response, it makes sense when I reset the power on the switch and everything came up running as normal.

IM3CPO looks to be correct, here is what Aurender said today:

Hi Edward,

Thank you for your understanding. I have checked and it looks normal.
I think it was due to network problem. It might try to get some information for TIDAL and stuck due to the network issue.

If you have this issue again, please try to check IP address of Aurender.
And you can find this with the front buttons.
When you press UI change button next to play button, you will find something like the picture I attached.
