Hi there I am a newbie to Accuphase ... I hope some users of DG48 or even DG58 could shed light on my following question?

My question is simple but very important. I use a DAC with digital output (actually it's a mixer, Prism Orpheus). I played 'stereo' files of different resolution - 16/44, 24/96, 24/192 and actually some others.

I noted there is digital input for DG58. I also noted the following description from the catalog:
"Digital inputs HS-LINK Connector type: RJ-45
Suitable cable: Dedicated HS-LINK cable
COAXIAL Format: IEC 60958 compliant
OPTICAL Format: JEITA CP-1212 compliant
● Sampling frequency 32 kHz, 44.1 kHz, 48 kHz, 88.2 kHz, 96 kHz,
176.4 kHz, 192 kHz (16 to 24-bit 2-channel PCM)
          (OPTICAL to 96 kHz)
         [Only via HS-LINK] 2.8224 MHz (1-bit 2-channel DSD)"

Does it mean I could connect the digital output of my DAC to DG58 using COAXIAL to play the files with the format described as above, which are "32 kHz, 44.1 kHz, 48 kHz, 88.2 kHz, 96 kHz, 176.4 kHz, 192 kHz (16 to 24-bit 2-channel PCM)"?

Does it also mean if I use Optical, I could only play music files up to 24/96?

I asked since in the 'digital connection examples' of the catalogue, there is a line saying "If the connection is made with coaxial or optical fiber cable, only the CD signal can be processed." I am very confused about this line since CD signal means only 16/44 will be accepted. But it also seems that they're talking about DP720 only?

I hope if any DG48/58 users could shed light on this simple and important issue - connecting DAC to DG58, and its implications on music file formats playable/acceptable for DG58.

The link to the catalogue: http://www.accuphase.com/cat/dg-58_e.pdf
ChaCha7.......What the catalog is telling you is the DG-58 can and will process DSD signals but only with the HS-LINK cable between one of Accuphase's CD/SACD compatible transports. Over coaxial and optical only PCM signals will be passed to the DG-58 and be processed at the Bit rate and frequencies stated for coaxial and fiber.

Dan, I seem to have posted in the wrong thread ... I was meant to post my question in the DG58 thread ... but could I ask one more question?

You wrote: "Over coaxial and optical only PCM signals will be passed to the DG-58 and be processed at the Bit rate and frequencies stated for coaxial and fiber."

Do you mean the coaxial input of DG58 will "accept" whatever music formats my DAC sending to it (16/44, 24/96, and 24/192 are the most common ones)?

And perhaps not just "accepting" ... for 24/96 and 24/192 music files, will DG58 be able to perform its EQ functionalities in such so called higher-resolution format?

(Or should we move to DG58 thread? Please advise

ChaCha7.......After reading everything I could get my hands on when Ivan was first considering the DG-58, it is my understanding that it will process 16 and 24 Bit signals to 192 KHz from a coaxial connection. It will process 16 and 24 Bit signals to 96 KHz from an optical connection. The Accuphase DG-58 is an extremely powerful audio tool.

Yeah, the prices are quite different in different parts of the world. I paid US$5,000 for my E460, not US$13,500.
