If you listen to digital music only... seems like the ARC DS450 would be a great choice.

Default Cj 350...

When Martin Colloms at Hi Fi Critic reviewed the Sashas, his CJ 350 went into thermal overload, not liking the impedance dip. He had much better luck with a Krell 402, but that won't meet your heat requirement. Nor would any tube amps.

I'm extremely happy with my amps paired with my Sashas, but they put off some heat too.

Shame you didn't like the Ayre MX-R's. After Lamm, they are still my second favorite pairing with Sasha.

Default Hi Serge ...

Any idea how your MC2301's (the new setup looks beautiful by the way) compare with MC1.2K's? I'm curious if they have any of that tube magic without the maintenance and heat.

Joe

Hi Joe. Heat is not really an issue, at least not in my room. They do run warm but not hot. Tube magic? Yes, plenty, just not the type if you are looking for some kind of tube warmth and romance. They are rather neutral but very smooth and liquid sounding, like a good tube amp should. The magic is in the holographic soundstage and three dimensionality they reproduce. That's where "modern" tube magic is.

The new McIntosh MC452 or MC302 would do very nicely. And, at least to my eyes, are attractive enough to add to the decor of any listening space, so don't have to be hidden away in a cabinet. And, if like their predecessors, will both make little heat.

I was puzzled when I read this. My dartzeel is not a powerhorse, not by a mile, and it has no problem driving the Sashas.

Ralph Karsten from Atmasphere, also suggested in one of his posts on AgoN, that Sashas are not as tough load as they seem from looking at specs.

Hi Elberoth,

Yeah, it sounded strange to me too. In fact I have a friend who owns a CJ350 but after reading the Colloms review he wouldn't let me borrow it when I was searching for amps!

I think your best bet is Spectron. You can also get an in-home trial.

I am using them to drive my Sashas. Like Lamm, they can drive any speaker.

Are you using the Musician's in Mono?
