Dr. Feickert Latest Turntable - Firebird

Ok, I am fickle. Here's another Turntable - by the same inventor/designer of what I am having today - the DFA Twin.

Well, its the NEW Dr Feickert Firebird. Seems like its garnering top reviews all over the shop ... an extract I pasted below:

(The new top-of-the-line turntable from Dr Feickert sports some serious upgrades. First, there’s a brand new low-friction bearing that was designed in consultation with Continuum Labs’ Mark Dohman. The new bearing is supposed to be out of this world with respect to it’s smooth and silent action. In fact, “silent” seems to be a new buzzword over at Feickert since Stereophile’s Michael Fremer recently offered some ambivalent comments on the still Class A rated Blackbird turntable. So, in that vein, Feickert has introduced a brand new motor controller with all-new isolation to push the noise floor even further into the … ah … floor. The Firebird also comes with the new PO+ platter with big brass inserts).

Since it can accommodate 2 arms, I will keep my current Triplanar and the Shilabe and add on a second tonearm with the PC1 Limited later on should I decide to jump on this NEW top model!

Raven Limited is great, but this is really a viable and CHEAPER alternative. S$17k! Thinking hard. Lead-time 6 weeks from time confirming order!

Jerry.......It is a beautiful turntable. What will you do with the Dr. Feickert Twin-DFA? Will you be using the TriPlaner Mk VII UII on the new Dr. Feickert Firebird? When will it be in your home?

1. The Twin will be traded in for this. A very good trade in value I must add. The cost, before trade in is S$16800 (special color cost included).

2. The Triplanar Mk VII UII will be retained and same for the Shilabe cartridge.

3. Its a 6 weeks lead time, so earliest I can see it should be end July early August.

The color I had chosen is bronze, unique color that I have to pay for. A unique change for once as I had always love wood veneer finish!

Jerry.......Will your dealer install the TriPlanner tonearm and Shilabe cartridge, and set it all up for you?

Yes Dan, the dealer will set it all up for me.

For now, you can read all about it by googling all that is available on the net. So far, all reviews have been very positive.

Jeff, I sure will post pictures once its been received and will also post a review of it based on what I have seen, touch and then hear!

Just got news, its coming ... 2nd August. Now in production.

Attached picture of the man himself and the FireBird. I can't wait for the delivery, with the my current Triplanar & Shilabe re-attached.
