Lost one of the greats, Dr. John
Dr. John aka Mac Rebennack passed away today. He was one of my early idols - my wife and I saw him at least 8-10 times over the years, either by himself or at festivals, and it was always a wonderful experience. The last time we saw him, at the Jazz Alley in Seattle, he needed help getting off the stage and didn’t do an encore, and we concluded it was probably the last time we would see him. We will always cherish the memories of his live performances. Got my satchel of Gris-Gris in my hand...

Always a sad day when one of our favorite musicians, actors, celebrities dies. A small piece of ourselves seems to go with them. I was crushed the day B.B. King died a few years ago and there is a void there that will never be filled again. Such is life and our fate is unavoidable. Those that happen to leave a footprint behind that touches many and fills their lives with small and simple pleasures such as listening to music, remembering them with a smile and admiration is perhaps the best honor one can bestow. To not be forgotten after one goes, is perhaps the best anyone can hope for in our lives. Lucky are those who achieve such honor.
