Dan,

I will use the 501s and keeping them at a low idle.

Just a side note. Yesterday I took delivery of a pair of Definitive Tech Mythos STS for the home theater system. Very impressive sound, much better than the mythos ones they are replacing. Ran them off the 501s and was very amazed the little columns could output a well balanced, well blended sound. Might be a dark horse

I owned a pair of Definitive Technologies BP2000 Super Towers for years, and loved them. A good friend of mine has them now, and he is loving them. Def Tech makes some fair stuff, and some really great stuff. You just have to be selective.

I still have a surround set-up with BP 2000's on the front and BP-10's on the rear I use for sporting events. They sure do bass well.

What's the verdict on the OB1i's?

They have been side by side with the Cremona's the last 2 weeks. Will be posting my thoughts in a day or 2. Very impressive sounding.

After extensive scientific listening I have found my new favorite. The PMC won me over. When I took it out of the box I did not expect it to, especially next to the Cremona. But this unassuming speaker constantly surprised me.

When I listened to rock with the Cremona it never really sounded balanced(if rock can). The highs were slightly shrill and bass was a touch bloated. Listening to Led Zep or Cream with the PMC was a real treat. The cymbals were still there but they did not hurt my ears. I could hear the John Bonaham's drums with a clear placement in the soundstage. I preferred the Cremona with smooth vocals, strings and classical.

The PMC are easier to get good sound from. With the Cremona I was constantly adjusting toe in, distance apart, distance from the wall and also rake ..

So I am keeping the OB1i. It fits better in my room and works better for me. Do I dislike the SF. No, It is a great speaker which is so well crafted it makes the PMC look like a pair of Polk towers. If your tastes in music run with mostly the aforementioned music choose the SF. For people who have a wider variety of musical tastes go with the PMC.

I do think the PMCs are overpriced. The next step up in the line if you want more bass is 5k over the ob1is, come on! For that price difference I can get 2 Fathom f113s and blow my living room wall out

Outstanding Frank! Congrats on your new speakers.

My thoughts are the same as yours with the Sonus Faber Cremona. They are beautiful and priced correctly. SF do have different playback levels and you have to be particular with the type of music you play with them. The SF Amati Homage Anniversario is the better speakers but at a price $27K!

Definitely, the PMC OB1i has great value and it rocks. Now you can listen to all type of music.

Frank.......My conclusion would be that the Cremona's are overpriced. The cabinets on the Cremona's are beautiful, and you pay big for that. The grills on the Cremonas are uglier than the Wicked Witch of the West, IMO. Personally, I don't buy beauty, I buy sound quality. If beauty comes with it, great. The PMC's look good, with a beautiful real wood veneer, but it is the sound that matters. You have determined that for yourself. The PMC OB1i speakers outperform, and please you more than the Cremonas. That is where the value is.

Dan, I was hoping you would buy my Cremona's. I have the boxes and will ship to sunny florida, unlike Rilands. $4500 plus shipping and paypal. Just what I paid for them.
