I have not heard the combination, but I'd bet those 2301 tubes would make magic with those diamond tweeters, and their liquid midrange.

McIntosh is a great match to B&W and I have that combo in one system. But I am also really satisfied from Marantz PM-11S3. I have two integrated driving 802D3 in bi-amp mode with excellent results. Bi-amp really has audible benefits. If I were you I would try bi-amp with the new Marantz PM-10.

Burmester 911 Mk3, to be had at around 10K € second hand (audio-markt.de).

Thanks everyone; it seems like Mcintosh is a good match amongst others. The trick is to audition great amps with my speakers, my B&W dealer don’t sell any of the above mentioned brands so I have to see if I am able to borrow from other dealers here in Sweden.

Thanks very much; would you say that biamping stereo amps is superior to monoamps?

It really depends on what amps are you comparing. With the Maratnz option of using 2 integrated amps in bi-amp you save on an external preamp, one power cord and one interconnect and you get extra clarity, easier music delivery, ideal stereo separation and the convenience of using one remote only. The PM-10 was developed with using 800 D3 as a reference speaker. If I was in your place and with your budget, I would go with that option. It will also allow space to upgrade speakers later and move to 802 or 800 without any problem. Plus if you are considering a source also...take a look at the matching SA-10.

@musicmansweden

I love this idea best however the speakers don't "need" that much power. I found the MC252 was plenty adequate. When I doubled the power it added about nothing, as the salesmen had said. Still, two big mono blocks can make one feel best.

Does your dealer sell Bryston? I’m running 14B for my 802N. Yes, older speakers, and they sound fantastic!
