So here are some things I really like about the Fuji XT-2 (that are improvements over the Fuji XT-1) that I bought last week.
1) The dedicated controller on the back of the camera for the focus points 2) Higher resolution 24 mp and better low light i.e. higher usable ISO 3) Much faster focusing and focus point encounter settings 4) 4 k video 5) More programable buttons to store favorites in addition to the quick menu 6) Slightly bigger feels better in my hand 7) The battery vertical grip was bundled with the camera for only $99 which is a no brainer since it holds 2 extra batteries and gives an addition boost mode 8) Boost mode in the camera itself increase performance 9) push button lock and unlock feature on the shutter and ISO knobs 10) Up to + -5 exposure compensation when used in C mode Here is a sample of a JPEG with the new camera taken last week in velvia mode. By the way for anyone interested who uses a Mac, there is a $10 raw converter by the guy who wrote aperture for apple that sits on top of photo for the Mac and turns it into aperture with a few extra features called raw power (the link is on fujirumors website) |

Wish I had known that about the raw converter a couple months ago. I just spent a fair bit of most weekends over the last two months moving from aperture to lightroom, which was a royal PITA. A few more weekend sessions to go and I should be there. Worth it though, as I really enjoy the multi-device capabilities of LR (i.e., the ability to take everyone's photos from their phones and organize them on my phone!).
If you're interested, try ApertureExporter - which is way way better than the built in LR converter. Apologies for taking the thread off topic here. |

I really like the 16-55 F 2.8 pro zoom which replaced my 18-55 F 2.8- 4 . The autofocus is faster, the 16 mm wider angle is very useful as 18 mm is often not wide enough for me especially indoors. This lens is very sharp edge to edge even at 2.8 and it is weather sealed. When I need to go wider I have the 14 mm F2.8 which is a excellent lens with no distortion. For a light walk around lens especially for portraits and superb bokeh I have a 35 mm F 1.4. Lastly, I have a 27 mm F 2.8 pancake lens which makes the camera very small and can fit in my pocket without the grip. I like this lens when I am on vacation and want to bring the camera out to dinner or for street photagraphy. Most of the time the 16-55 is on my camera.

Nikon and canon do not have image stabilization on there pro 24-70 (equivalent on ff sensor) as it decrease sharpness. Image stabilization is neeeded for telephoto lens to prevent visible movement at the longer length's not below 55 mm . It is totally unnecessary at shorter focal length's unless you are shooting at slow shutter speeds. At a shutter speed of 60 or above you do not need image stabilization at 16-55. As for 55-82.5, this is the ideal portrait length. On the 18-55 at 55mm you will be at F4 and will not have much bokeh. The 18-55 mm is a nice lens and is very small and light weight. Try the 16-55 it is as sharp as a prime and fixed 2.8 is terrific, the focus speed is wonderful .
