Yes it does--Are you saying I should take it out? Or try a different USB buss?

Dave, are you using your front or rear USB. When I had my BDP-3 upgraded to wireless, I lost the use of my front two USB inputs.

No - just to test if the USB port was working, instead of assuming it was a bad USB board.

Right. Pretty sure it is, but I'll double check tonight.

I have a thumb drive in the front, using a rear USB for output. I need to get out the manual and read up on which ports are which.

I also have an Oppo 205/ SP3 combo. I much prefer the DAC in the Oppo to that in the SP3.

The way I see it this should not be a surprise. The SP3 is like 7 or more years old technology. Digital changes very rapidly and in those years DAC technology has changed quite a bit.

If playing CDs or Tidal (using Roon) via the Oppo, I let the Oppo do the D/A conversion and feed the SP3 an analog signal from the Oppo into the balanced input of the SP3. Then I do the 2-ch bypass in the SP3.

Default Why won't my BDP3 play with my Oppo205?

I am not very familiar with the BDP-3. So This comment may be totally out in left field. But doesn’t the Oppo 205 acting as a Roon Endpoint do pretty much what the BDP-3 does? If so, why do you still need to use the BDP-3?

Yes, that's the way I do it using the Oppo and the SP3. But the only way I can connect to the Oppo is by ethernet. I very rarely play discs, except the occasional movie.

But the problem is I can't get MQA that way, because I'm not using the USB input. MQA may or may not be all that, but I want to decide for myself.

So I bought the Oppo so I could play the BDP into it via USB, my iMac being my Roon core, but I can't get them to play. I'm going to try some of the suggestions from this thread (I really appreciate this forum), and see what happens.

You are correct, sir, but I had the BDP first, and didn't know I could use the Oppo standalone to stream. Plus, if I can make them play nice together, I will have MQA. If I can't make anything work, I'll sell the BDP, and maybe get a SilenZio, and a dedicated DAC. But that's down the road apiece. Very hammered with holiday preps, etc, plus having to drill a new well. (And we hit water today, so Merry Christmas to me!!)

Thanks to you and to all for keeping me working on this issue with your questions and suggestions. I really appreciate it.

Have you tried streaming from the BDP to the OPPO using the Bryston software leaving Room out of it to verify you are getting USB output and that maybe it is a software setting?
