I called Mcintosh up this morning (Dec 29, 2009). And I was told Mid-January. He seemed quite sure of himself, and appologized up and down for the delays thus far.

The mx150 Product page at Mcintosh seems to have disappeared?? I'm hoping that means they are revamping it due to impending release.

Then again it could mean it's been pushed back another 3 months?

Has anyone had any new information of late?

By the time the 150 is released HDMI 1.4 as well as newer audio formats will be released making it hard to justify spending 12K for the unit. Would be nice if the firmware could be updated. Long shot but could the fact that the 150 is off the Mac site they are possibly making a few last minute software mods to bring it up to current levels before release?

Nice thought, but as I understand it, HDMI 1.4 requires a hardware update as it also carries ethernet as well as much increased bandwidth for video signals.

What newer audio formats are you aware of that can't be transmitted by HDMI 1.3? I'm not aware of any that are currently available.

He's probably refering to Dolby Pro Logic IIx and Dolby Pro Logic IIz.. which 1.3 is perfectly capable of, and of Which I would think is much more likely to be upgraded via firmware or internet. etc.

As I posted in another thread, the McIntosh MX150 product announcement says that it will have Dolby Pro Logic IIx, so no need to add that later. Dolby Pro Logic IIz would add two front "height" channels for a 9.1 configuration, which I suppose could be done via a firmware update, since the MX150 has twelve total channels available, two of which could be configured for the front height channels. Having said that, I'm not likely to add two more speakers and amps for height channels in any event even if they add Dolby Pro Logic IIz capability to the MX150.
