Happy Friday! My last post for this thread. I just confirmed with B&W Group that the speakers were shipped directly from their warehouse to the dealer. I picked the speakers up at the dealer hours within their arrival. The boxes were still wrapped with clear plastic sitting on the pallet and the invoice still attached to the box. The dealer pulled the invoice out before helping me load them.
I will be receiving the bolts from B&W . Last edited by tractng; 02-03-2017 at 01:21 PM. |

I just found the photo with the plate on the bottom of the plinth which is the one you showed in your photo that fell off. I don't think this is anything to worry about and you could probably glue this back on the bottom if you wanted to go through the hassle of tipping the speaker on its side. [IMG][/IMG]

I have been contemplating btw 804D3 and 803D3 which would be upgrade from CM10S2.
This afternoon, I had some free time and went to Magnolia store to listen both of speakers with Mcintosh pre and power amps. I'd definitely go with 803D3 speakers which produce more bass and smoother mid and high. At the showroom, the power amps drove both speakers were MC 601 mono blocks which have a plenty of power along with C2600. Now my concern is "do I have enough power to drive 803D3 with my equipment?" Currently I have C2600 and MC 275. If I get 803D3, should I just get another MC 275 and go mono block or need SS amp like MC 452 for bass and tube for mid and hi by bi-amping? Need some advices....Thanks in advance. |

First try the 275 alone and see what you get out of it. If you like it, go for another 275 but in bi-amp confoguration. I did try this on Sonus Faber Amati futura and it was better than the mono mode. I used to own 803 D3 bit never tried them with 275. Reviews say thay work with low power tube amps such as Nagra 300B.
Edit: And never mix two different amps in bi-amp. You will never get proper balance. |

inbuilt plinth spikes.
Hello. Can someone tell me how to adjust the spikes on the 803D3. I read the directions and I'm still confused. Do the cups come off the spikes when adjusting? I have a thick rug. Any help would be much appreciated.

Hi guys,
I recently had an opportunity to test 2 pairs of 804d3 at home, the first one was new pair and the other one was one year old. I'm very impressed how these speakers changes over time. The new pair sounded really bright and definitively lacking some bass at the lower ends. I had a pair of PMC twenty5.23 as well and them seemed to go further in the lower ends in comparison to 804d3, but when I moved into the 804d3's one year old pair ----------- WHAT A DIFFERENCE!!! --------- I was very skeptical to believe too much in the burning period but I have to say that I was forced to change my opinion in the case of these speakers. The 804d3's used pair filled the room with their bass going incredibly on the low ends and the bright/harsh sound disappeared and I just fall in love with them The previous day I had heard a pair of 803d3 (some of the speakers I wanted to buy) in a store and I was soooo disappointed. The bass performance was simply ridiculous, I simply did not hear the bass. But now, after this test I did at home I began to think that the speakers in the store could also be new and how they should really play wonderful after a while. So, I just wanted to share my recent experience with these speakers and say that if you listen to these speakers for the first time and be disappointed, try to give them another chance trying to hear a some that has been in use for quite some time, there's a good chance you can change your mind about them. |

I hate to hikack this thread but I tried to PM and you’re not a subscriber so it didn’t work. Anyway, I’m about to purchase a pair of PMC twenty5.23’s and I’m really interested in your thoughts on that speaker especially against the B&W 804’s. I think they really give them a run for the money but that’s me. How did they compare in your house? What did you power them with when testing? Did the PMC’s fill the room like the B&W’s. Would like to discuss.
