My 18 year old 4BSST is still going strong.

I'm quite impressed.

Wouldn't an 18 year old Bryston amp make that an ST vs an SST? When did the SST begin? Thanks.

James will have to give the definitive answer. The SST series was announced in the Bryston Newsletter Vol 6 #5, however, curiously the newsletters aren't dated. :>(

I have a 3B SST manufactured in, I think from the date code, in mid '02 with a mid 200 serial number, so I would guess that the SSTs began in 2000-01???

Does the 3Bsst sound similar? For those who don't need much power?

Forgive me all, it's only 10 years old.

I forgot I used the B&K Mono Blocks for as long as I did.

According to James Tanner, all Bryston amps are the same as far as quality of parts, signal processing parameters, etc. The only difference is scaled up for power. All Bryston amps sound the same to me but I can't hear any difference in cables either. That said, the MSRP difference between a 3B and 4B is $700, so if that isn't going to break the bank, I would opt for the 4B. Bryston amps are built for the long term and who knows what your power requirements will be in the future.
