Hi Ken,
I have a similar system to you, on a slightly smaller scale. I have a PASS XA30.5 and Cardas Clear Light interconnects and speaker cables, and an aR2p-TO power conditioner. I've had similar experience to you with effect of the power conditioner. I am a huge fan of the Cardas Clear range, having auditioned many cables. George Cardas I believe only uses pure copper. One of the biggest effects I found was hanging an "acoustic cloud" (two 2' x 4' by 2" thick panels) from the ceiling. The effect this had on the treble was amazing. I have other acoustic panels too, but could live with just the cloud. According to the acoustic engineer I hired many tweeters upward dispersion pattern can contribute to an edgy first reflection. YMMV, as I have 8 ft ceilings. Dave |

This is really interesting as the ceiling reflection never even entered my mind as a possible source of treble edginess. Emile also made the point that I should do the room treatments first before upgrading power cords, interconnects and speaker cables. I am giving it some serious thought. It looks like I'll also need to bring in a professional to balance my room acoustics. I also have 8 foot ceilings. Best, Ken |

Have you used REW or any other measurement software to measure your room? There is an excellent paper written by Nyal Mellor and Jeff Hedback called "Acoustic Measurement Standards for Stereo Listening Rooms". I found it excellent and used Nyal's services to help me with my room (all remotely via skype and sending my REW files ... him in San Fran and me in Los Angeles).
