Thanks guys, I appreciate the comments. So just from looking at my room, would anyone care to suggest speaker placement...really it's just between the two available walls. All furniture (except eating table) can be moved to accommodate the sound system.

The room is very comfy when you have the lamps on low...I love brass candlesticks turned into lamps. The wood walls with the low light set a very warm atmosphere that goes well with the tubes. Overall a very warm room.

Hi Trey,

You've got a really nice setup there, and a gorgeous house to boot! It looks very warm and inviting!

Why do you ask about speaker placement though? Does the music sound off? I've had speakers along the long wall in a similar setup, sounded fine. I just had mine pulled away from the wall a little bit more.

Everything sounds AMAZING actually, the only problem is there seems to be absolutely no sound stage. As far as musicality, tone, detail, everything you could think of, it's there and absolutely wonderful. Just no sound stage.

Try pulling the speakers away from the wall and see if that improves to your liking. Otherwise, you may need to go along the short wall.

I have tried that as well. Pretty much the whole area around the speakers have been used. I know there is information out there on speaker placement but not sure where to start. I have not brought the speakers up to the carpet yet and have thought about doing that but it just seems so very close to my sitting position. How close is to close?

See if Audio Physic, who favors the long wall setup, has any tips that might help. They also do favor near field listening if I recall.

Other methods (but I think along the short wall):

Cardas

Wilson Audio

Good luck! Post back how you get along...

You did exactly what I would have done. I really like the XR100s.
