Gadawg makes an excellent point that has been my experience also. Cables are highly system dependent. I use some vintage NOS Cardas Golden Reference that are transparent but have no brightness issues. I have not tried WW Silver, but I have not had luck with silver cables in my system. So, the ideal solution is to be able to try the ones you have an interest in. Usually that is problematic. With the level of cable you're talking about, they will all sound good. The only question is whether another cable might sound "gooder". Let us know how it works out.

Default I'm beaten..

In a past life when I was in the audio retail game I used to manufacture Silver Sounds cables for Reference Imports in the UK. During that time I used to experiment with many different cables and construction techniques.

Many of my cables sold well but that said I now realise that I could never equal the pure excellence of the Wireworld cables I recently received from Ivan.

My last self constructed cable I used in my system are shown here, it consists of woven miniature UHF coaxial cable made with unusual materials, being silver plated steel wire shielded by silver plated copper braid. Its performance was really excellent apart from a minor but irritating glare in the upper register. I still enjoyed the cable but I must say that Wireworld has got a considerable lead on me (no pun intended). Hey, at least I tried.

hello, I'm from Italy, I hope not to bother you, I have read you have had some experience with the manufacturing of Silver Sounds cables; please can you help me? I'm searching for a pair of 12/3 interconnect and speaker cables, do you know if Reference Import still have some pairs for sale?
I hope you can help me, thank you very much
kind regards
Gianluca

I held out for way too long to make this upgrade. Rewired everything last night with Silver Eclipse SC and IC. Along with a WW platinum USB.

I didn't want to believe it would make much of a difference. But with about 20 hours of non stop playing I'm shocked. Ivan told me I'd be eating crow on this one. He was 100% right

Hi Gianluca,
Its no bother. Its been many years since I've manufactured Silver Sounds cables for Reference Imports. The most popular cable was the 12/2 but unfortunately both Reference Imports and Silver Sounds cables have ceased many years back and the proprietor John Jeffries has now retired. It was a good cable for its time but its performance has been eclipsed. Sorry I can't be of more help. Best wishes Allan

hello Allan,
thank you very much for your kind reply,
please can you tell me what is, in your opinion, the speaker cable that can be considered very close (in performance) to the Silver Sounds cable?
thanks
best regards

Hi Gianluca, sorry to be so late in responding. Probably any cable with 12 gauge stranded silver coated copper conductors with ptfe dielectric would come close to the sonic signature of the Silver Sounds cable. Sorry that I can't be more specific.
