I'm not sure why you found them so bright but I would be much quicker to blame the source or the room before either component. Vivids are, if nothing else, ruthless disclosers of issues elsewhere in the chain. |

Just as a point of clarity, 'On a Higher Note' is no longer distributing Luxman gear. Luxman recently assumed their own direct distribution in the US market.

I'm running my B1's with a Luxman M800-A and it's not harsh or bright at all. The sound is so smooth and warm. I would say it's most likely a bad recording with highs bumped up.

No harshness at all for years with a Mark Levinson No. 334 and now with a pair of Ayre MX-R Twenties.

No harshness here either, first with Burmester, and now with the terrific Halgorythmes.

Absolutely no harshness either, using Denon, Burmester, Esoteric and now Devialet.

Thanks guys! Good to know that Vivid is not harsh sounding in your own systems / rooms. I will once again try to demo it in the upcoming newport show.
It may be a really bumped up highs on the digital source. It got better once the master tape spins on the RTR.
