Default Drove a '13 Caymen 981s

My buddy let me take his 981s for a short drive last night. Great driving feel that is very connected to the road with an obnoxiously loud noise that sounds great when pushed. My buddy spent $3K for the 'loudness' button. Would be fun on a track as long as there were no Corvettes there .

But I fell in love with the DPK tranny. It is sublime. It just spits shifts. The right gear is always there with no perceptible delay. Fantastic.

It is a nice weekend toy that can't fit golf clubs other than in the passenger seat.

Default Drove a '13 Caymen 991S

Did you mean a Cayman 981s? That car drives better than even a 911 (991)!

Eh, guess so. It had a big decal along the side that I thought said 991 but could have been 981! Sorry for any confusion.

(Edited my original post). Thanks!

The old 987S with the old skool hydraulic steering, a six speed manual and that singing flat 6 always brought a smile to my face.

I imagine the 981S is even more refined.

The PDK is faster but id get that manual every time.

Drove the 718 Cayman S recently and was hugely disappointed in the new flat 4 turbo engine. Ultimately it is quicker and more powerful than the flat 6 variants it replaced and the styling of the 718 is better to my eyes. Driving the 718 was a different story though. Felt like I was driving on a huge wave of torque that was present everywhere along the rpm range with barely a need to shift much with the manual tranny. Ultimately it is a great car for PDK and for all around use but for my driving pleasure I prefer a naturally aspirated engine that makes you work for it while rowing gears. Since I tend to drive a fun/weekend toy such as a Cayman on the twisty back roads primarily and never have used them for commuting much, I wouldn't derive much satisfaction out the 718 platform with the $90k price tag optioned out the way it should be.
