My 21 yr old son and I decided last year that we'd make the Cape Extravaganza our excuse for seeing the East Coast for the first time. When it turned out the Extravaganza wasn't going to work out this year, Ivan threw out the invitation to visit anytime on our own. That, combined with the fact we have friends in Boston, got us planning. We ended up spending eight days between Boston and the Cape. We saw Provincetown, Martha's Vineyard, walked The Freedom Trail, climbed the 284 steps of the Bunker Hill Monument (I'm a runner, and it still was a workout), visited Fenway Park on game day, and saw the Celtics get trounced by LeBron and Kyrie in Game 5 in the Boston Garden. Visiting Ivan definitely ranked right up there with these great activities.

Ivan's hospitality and graciousness have been expounded upon many times on A.A., and all I can say is that it's all true. From the time he greeted us at the door to wishing us a safe trip back home he and his family were welcoming and friendly.

As for his audio systems and home theater, well, I have never heard or experienced anything quite like them. Listening to Edgar Winter's Frankenstein on the Burmester system caused an involuntary grin that turned into an uncontrollable laugh from my disbelief in the amazing experience we were having. This was a what, forty year old recording? I was listening to this back in high school on my Radio Shack Realistic all-in-one system (with 8-track and fold-out speakers). How could it sound like this? The guitar and drums were HUGE and the presence, impact, and spacing was simply phenomenal. I have listened extensively at shows, in dealer's showrooms, and at fellow audiophile's homes for many years, but nothing has sounded like that.

The TAD/Bryston system greatly impressed us as well. For significantly less (though still a LOT of) money it didn't have anything to be ashamed of compared to the Burmester. Boz Skaggs voice and accompanying piano were in the room with us and The Eagles "Hotel California" live was just that...live.

I have not experienced a high-end home theater before, but his has to be about as good as it can get. In a Captain America demo I swore the Robo-Cop-like bad guy's 100 cal. loads were buzzing right by our ears. The Gothams were reminding me of Sensurround (Midway) from years ago.

We have all read about and seen the pictures of Ivan's attention to detail. Actually being there and experiencing it is another thing. From the movie posters (all signed) to the Terminator statue (made of metal from the actual movie) to the automatic and perfectly dimmed lighting, Ivan has left nothing to chance. One can't forget the famous disappearing cable tricks he does with all his systems either. Even in person, where camera angles cannot help hide anything, the cables are simply not there. This leads to the "catwalk".

We've seen pictures of the area behind the wall of McIntosh electronics that powers his soundproof 2-channel room as well as the theater but, again, seeing is believing. The meticulous attention to detail with something so complicated and potentially confusing is off the charts. I won't go into everything here, as I'm sure there must be a thread that goes into detail, but let's just say I know what the back of my system's rack looks like, and it doesn't look anything like this!

To conclude, if you ever have the opportunity to visit either of Ivan's homes, I highly recommend the trip. For my son and I it was more than simply listening to music, it was another adventure, an experience, on what turned out to be a fantastic trip to Boston and Cape Cod. Thanks, Ivan!

I have a pair of Furutech NCF NanoFlux Power Cables 1.8M on order. I intend to experiment with them on my Bryston 28B Cubed Amps by comparing them against my WireWorld Platinum Electra's.

These Furutech NCF NanoFlux PC's are quite a bit more expensive than the WW Platinum's. Let's see how the WW Plats at $3K each do against the Furutech NCF's at $5800 each.

That will be one hell of a test; I am also definitely interested in the results. The WW is a great power cord; the Furutechs are reputed to be among the finest out there. After some break-in, would love to hear more of your results!

The AMR is very nice, but the D02X is in another zip code performance wise.
