I folks. I had a visit from the Australian Vivid reps today. Nice blokes and my little issue with one of my drivers is now fully sorted thanks to a little tenacity on their part ( my speaker did not want to give up its driver). Apart from learning a little more about how the B1 is put together i also learned a little trick for maintaining your speakers. An occasional "polish"does not go astray as you would imagine with an automotive type finish. But that can leave the rubber O ring on the mid bass driver looking less than pristine by comparison. You can't polish it, but what you can do is gently apply some baby oil. The rubber will absorb the oil and return its colour and look to new. I'm going to drop into the supermarket in the next few days to get some but i am confident it will work as recommended as my source on this issue is a knowledgable one.

Many may know this already, or some may not. I've seen a few pictures on the forum that indicate not everyone is privy to this little trick. This might be a good thread for any other maintenance matters around Vivid ownership.

How about silicone grease instead of baby oil?

No idea. Overspray could be an issue depending on how it is applied. No idea if one is better at penetrating or if the later might be more likely to attract dust. You could always try both and report back, but i have already bought some baby oil at huge expense and it worked just fine.

Nordost will be putting out a range of reference oils next year if you want to wait...........ok, i made that up.
