Default Pre between the M1 or M21 and M28’s

Anyone running a pre between their M1 or M21 and M28’s.

Currently running direct, but curious if folks have added a pre and how they feel it changed the sound.

Calling SL1800!!!

He has run the M20 between the M21 and M28 but mainly to enable his Analog rig.

Don’t know about sound.

Would be curious about non-Bricasti pre feedback too...

I've never gone direct into the M28 amps - I use the Mark Levinson no.52 pre-amp.
I double checked with Bricasti before I bought it given the concern Bricasti had with gear Stereophile used to review and re-review the M28 amps. The manufacturer's comments regarding the reviews explain their concerns.
I'm very happy with the combo!

I'm intrigued by the newest Bricasti M32.

I just ordered the Bricasti M1SE. I will be using it with McIntosh C52 preamp and McIntosh MC452 amp. I am also using an Aurender N10 and Focal Sopra No2 speakers. I can’t wait. The DAC should be a huge improvement.

Congratulations! You’ll love the resolution it will bring. Don’t be afraid to try it as your preamp (if you don’t have analog sources).

I am running a M20 preamp between my M21 dac and M28 amps. I did so as I also have a turntable and wanted the other balanced inputs for my phono pre. But I have found I actually prefer the sound of the dac with the preamp in the chain. It just adds a touch of body to the presentation to my ear. I see I need to update my equipment list in my signature.

Strojo

I also tried the M21 dac with my Audio Research gear and I felt there was greater clarity WITHOUT the ARC Ref6 in the chain. The Ref6 is a little lacking in clarity and resolution compared to the M21 and or the M20.

Are you using the Sonore to feed Roon to the M21 instead of the built-in network card?

I had the Sonore before the M21 so I can actually use either the Sonore or the Network card. I mostly use the network card.
