Default The Sumiko Palo Santos....Grrreat!

Just got one of these beauties from Sumiko today, and they informed me it had some break in time from CES, so I could get right down to business and start listening right away.

The first stop is on my Rega P9 and I must say that while I'd like to spend a bit more time really optimizing the setup, already it sounds fantastic. I am very impressed at first pass.

It's got a lot in common with the Koetsu Urushi and Rosewood Sig. Platinum in terms of a slight warmth overall, yet still having a high degree of resolution.

Getting used to it with the P9 and the ARC PH6. Later on, it will go on the AVID/SME and plug into the REF 2 phono...

Yep, I played it quite a bit at CES. But it may still have some opening up for you. Was mounted on a 20/3 with an SMEV.

Glad to hear your initial impressions are flavor textures of Koetsu. I'm sure you realize that Sumiko's Dave Fletcher was the original Koetsu importer - back when both of us were much younger!

Will be really interesting when you get it in your SME since that's the arm on which they did development.

I had heard rumors, but didn't know for sure. I've got another SME V on the way for my other AVID table, so it will make the move in a little while.

But so far, fabulous!

So, do you think this little jewel has a couple hundred hours on the clock?

Certainly less at CES. Don't know how much time they have put on it since.

I like the feedback - I bought a new one, but haven't had the time to mount it and break it in my rig. It sounds promising!
